Updates

I haven't had time to update cos I've been so busy... I'm bereft of new business ideas, cos I'm so busy focusing on existing ones.

The latest, as mentioned before, is the DeclareYourLove site. The reason why the site is down is because we have decided to rethink our strategy in the face of competition. Honestly speaking, when we first started DeclareYourLove, we thought the idea was the first of its kind. We were so wrong... Do a search on 'love pixels', you will find at least a dozen other sites doing the same thing. Slightly discouraging, but I'm not giving up. Competition is what's so fun about business - its the closest thing you can get to a war in my opinion, with the fight not over territory, but customers. And in this "Love pixel" war, I predict that only a few will be left standing.

As such, come next month, DeclareYourLove will feature new options to keep it interesting and exciting. Anyone can upload their pictures and post their messages for free. The free option will be limit the duration of the photo and message being on the site, and the size of the photo, but this will keep things interesting, because visitors can get to see messages constantly being posted up.

We are all not entirely sure if this new idea will work, but then you never know until you try... so check out the site next month!

Declare your love Part 2

So its been a couple of days since Declareyourlove.net was launched. I must say the feedback has been quite positive, most people like the idea, but nobody is willing to pay for it (typically Singaporean!). The site already has about 1200+ hits for the past 2 days (including repeat hits), so things could improve further. Dean and Kenneth, keep up the good work!! A special mention also goes out to Wanting, who redid the website banner and menu bar for me.

The feeling I get is that this site has lots of potential. When the idea first came about, I saw a lot of potential in terms of being a site of all sorts of love related stuff. So for example, after you post your message, you have the option of buying a gift or flowers, and have that gift delivered to that special one. Or love advice (not from any one of the 4 definitely) , or even online dating.

But maybe the business model has to be rethought a bit. Maybe people won't pay for posting messages. I'm sure if it was for free then the site will be filled in no time. But they will be restricted in terms of size and message length, and priority would go to paying ones. With the amount of traffic generated then premium space would go to advertisers. But we'll see how the marketing and v-day hype will work for the site.

Stay tuned ladies and gentlemen!

Declare your love

I've been neglecting the blog lately, all because I've been involved in 3 projects simultaneously. But now finally 1 of the projects has been completed!

It is DeclareYourLove.NET, a website inspired by the milliondollarhomepage (read my earlier blog post). The back story to this is that Dean and I were discussing the million dollar page, and he was saying, "lets just copy that guy man". Then I said, "nah, it work work if its a outright copy, we need a twist". "ok, how about porn related, or something wholesome?", came the reply. "Lets try the wholesome one first", I said. So, after 2 weeks of discussion and work, and after roping in TM and Kenneth, Declareyourlove was born.

The idea is that you can buy pixels to declare your love to anyone! Space is limited so hurry before Vday!

Take a look and gimme your feedback!
